About this talk. In this 52-minute Medicine Buddha empowerment, Kyabje Rinpoche opens with preliminary practices—refuge prayers, seven-limb prayers, and merit accumulation—then addresses eligibility: those with prior empowerments visualize themselves as Medicine Buddha; others visualize the Buddha on their crown. The practice centers on seven Medicine Buddhas stacked at the crown, from Bhaiṣajyaguru (blue, in monk’s robes, attended by white and red Bodhisattvas) to Suparikirtitanama Sri (yellow) at the apex. The core sequence involves supplicating to each Buddha in turn, imagining each dissolve into the next until all merge into Bhaiṣajyaguru, from whom light and blessings flow into the body. This dissolution repeats three times. For practitioners receiving or already qualified for the empowerment.

So, before I want to take the empower receive the empowerment of the Medicine Buddha, one has to generate oneself as a Medicine Buddha first. So, if any of you have received the empowerment, the empowerment of the Action Tantra, Performance Yoga, and the Highest Yoga Tantra, one who has received any of those initiations are permitted to visualize oneself as a Medicine Buddha. One who hasn’t had any initiation before, one should not develop or visualize oneself as a Medicine Buddha, one instead of that one visualize the medicine Buddha’s at the crown at one’s crown. So when one do the visualization, at the center are visualizing medicine Buddhas. And at the right of the medicine Buddhas, visualize a Buddhist a white radiant as a moon, and at the left is the Bodhisattva radiant like a sun.

So all of you have to become monk here at this stage. Buddha is the monk. So if you have received any of those initiation, then generate yourself as a Medicine Buddha deity, Medicine Buddha, and one who hasn’t received any initiation before, but don’t forget to visualize the Medicine Buddha on one’s crown. So it it it it is not this first. While in ordinary states, everyone visualized the Medicine Buddha on one’s crown.

And, after having visualized the Medicine Buddha at one’s and those who have received any initiations, any of those initiations before, can dissolve that visualized Medicine Buddha, within oneself and generate, and oneself transformed or converted as a Medicine Buddha. Those who haven’t received any initiation just maintain the visualization Medicine Buddha upon on one’s crown as it is. So first, one visualizes the medicine Buddhas in one’s crown. So when one does the visualization, first visualize that on one’s crown, on the lotus throne, upon a lotus, visualized that the main medicine Buddha, Buddha main Buddha, which is Bhaiṣajyaguru, Bhaiṣajyaguru in the lotus position. Lotus positions in the and in the form of monk wearing three types of the red wearing red robes with holding an Utpala flower and the herbal medicine tree in his left hand, and the right hand holding up the begging bowl, filled with the medicines.

And then so and and the right right and the left a bit lower to the ized, the main medicine Buddha from the right, a bit lower than the medicine Buddha and visualize the syllable A which transforms into — at the right, visualize the syllable A which transforms into the white Bodhisattva radiant as a moon. The left, visualize the syllable MUM which transforms into the Bodhisattva radiant like a sun. And they are No. And those Bodhisattvas are in the gesture of holding hands, or arms together folding, arms together and paying respect towards the main medicine Buddha. And just above just above or a few inches above the of the Buddha Bhaisajya Guru, Medicine Beshaja Guru, sits or sits the or visualize just above the Ushnisha of Buddha Beshaja Guru, visualize the second medicine Buddha, which is Buddha medicine Buddha, Abhijnaraja, red in color, right hand right hand in the gesture in the mudrā of bestowing blessings, and the left and left is in the posture of equipoise.

And and upon upon the crown, just upon the crown of Buddha, Abhijnana Rāja visualized the Buddha Dharmakirtisagara, red in color, right hand bestowing blessings and left hand in the gesture of meditative equipoise. And just above the corner of Buddha, Dharmakirtisagara, visualize the the third one, the Buddha, medicine Buddha called Ashokot Mastery, pink in color and both arms both arms both arms are in equipoise. And and just above above the corner of Buddha, Ashokotama Sri, visualize the Buddha Suvarṇabhadravimala. Its color is white-yellow or a pale yellow.

And right arm is in in right right arm is in the gesture of giving teachings and left arm is in equipoise And and just above the crown of Buddha, Suvarṇabhadravimala visualize the Buddha called Sarvagosharaja. The color is red yellow, and the right hand is in the gesture of giving teachings, and left hand is in equipoise. Yes. And just above the corner of the Buddha, Sarvagosharaja visualized the Buddha Suparikirtitanama Sri with yellow yellow in color, right hand give in the gesture of giving teaching and left in equipoise. So here in this visualization, one should visualize all the seven medicine Buddhas visualize seven medicine Buddhas one upon one upon another.

So so to this, we have visualized all these medicine Buddhas one upon one top upon other another. So so at the through through the visualization, at the very top, we have visualized the Buddha Suparikirtitalamasri, which is yellow in color, right hand giving teaching, and left hand is in equipoise. So we first make a supplication prayers towards that, the very topmost Buddha and Buddha in Tibetan, in Tibetan. And with supplication, making supplication like saying that saying that that that you have you have you have made eight great prayers in order to in order to overcome the sufferings and sufferings and the problems of the sentient beings and have accomplished all your wishes. And now he and and now at this time, I need your help, and I want the blessings from you.

You. No. No. And requesting him to give the blessings. So here you have to do a repetition after the guru.

And the meaning of the repetition is that that one is making a praise towards the very topmost Buddha, Suparikirtitalamasri. And the meaning of supplication is that you have, for the sake of us, to benefit us, you have made lots of prayers in the past and have accomplished your wishes. And now is the time we we need your help, and please grant us the blessings. So you are making supplication towards the the very topmost Buddha. So now repeat this with with with imagination of making a supplication to that Buddha, the very top one’s Buddha.

So by making this supplication towards the very topmost visualized Buddha and through the power of this supplication supplication, imagine that the very topmost Buddha, Medicine Buddha, dissolves into the second Medicine Buddha, which is the Buddha Sarvagosharaja. Now, through this supplication, the first Medicine Buddha dissolves into the second one. And now, we still go through same supplication prayers in which which that the second supplication is to the second medicine, Buddha, which is Buddha Sarvagosharaja. So now you are making supplication to the second medicine Buddha. By making this supplication, second medicine Buddha, the Buddha, dissolves imagine that it dissolves into the third medicine Buddha, which is Suvarṇabhadravimala.

So now all this. So through this, the first by making these supplications, all the third the the third medicine Buddha — the making of supplication towards the third one now, which dissolves into the fourth one, which is Ashokottamasri, pink in color, both hands in equipoise. And by dissolving into him, now we are making supplication towards the fourth medicine Buddha. And then now by making this supplication towards the Buddha Ashokottamasri, it dissolves into the Buddha Dharmakirtisagara. Mhmm.

the Dharmakirtisagara. By this supplication, the imagine now that by making this supplication, the Buddha Dharmakirtisagara transforms or dissolves into the Buddha Abhijnaraja, and making supplication towards it. To So, but at this supplication, I’m making made towards the Buddha Abhijnanaraja, and now imagine that the Buddha it’s a time or imagine that Abhijnanaraja with this making supplication to him, he dissolves into the main medicine Buddha, which is Bhaiṣajyaguru. And as for the so all those medicine Buddhas have made the prayers in the past, and have made many great prayers, and others have made the eight great prayers.

And whereas for the the main medicine Buddha, the Bhaiṣajyaguru has made the 12 great prayers in the past. So by making the supplication and praise towards the main Buddha Bhaiṣajyaguru. Now, imagine that by making this supplication that the light, the very bright light comes from the body of Buddha, the main medicine Buddha, Beshaja Guru, in which that light and the blessings dissolve through one’s crown aperture and enters one’s body and fills one’s body down to one’s toes. One’s body has been filled with the blessings and the nectar, and through this, imagine that you have achieved or attained the very crystal or like glass body or a crystal body. So do this meditation or visualization.

You have attained such. So we the text the text here said that we need we have to do this the visualization and the the supplication prayers as well as visualization dissolved in one top Buddha into the lower and then to the next in three times. So, we have done the first one by and you have done this repeating after after the Guru. And if we if you still if you still go with the repetition, then it takes very long time. So, I’m going to read through the text and imagine that you so you should do the same process of visualization.

And I will tell you that this is the first time of making prayers toward the first one. And imagine that during your within your visualization, imagine while Guru is reading the text, imagine that you are making supplication towards the first one, and which dissolve into the second and then third process through the same meditation. So now you can stay in hold your hands together and imagine they’re making supplication, making request or prayers towards the first Buddha, and I’m going to do recite the text. So so so this you want to do your. Yeah.

But all this the visualization is done or visualize all this Buddha upon one’s crown, so it’s individually upon one’s crown and dissolve, making prayers towards each visualization. Now towards the second second medicine. The second one is the second medicine Buddha is Now towards the third one, Now towards the the the Buddha fourth one, Buddha Ashokottamasri. Now towards the Buddha Dharmakirtisagara. Now now we do the third visualization.

[inaudible]. Now again, imagine, visualize all those medicine Buddha, seven medicine Buddha’s one upon one top upon other like the previous one. And now make praise praise to the very topmost one. Now to the Buddha, Ashokottamasri. So through this supplication, each one dissolves into another and now dissolves into the last, the main one.

But through the visualization and through this dissolution, all the Buddhas have been dissolved into the main medicine Buddha, which is Bhaiṣajyaguru, blue in color, which is in the nature of all medicine Buddhas. So, make a very, very good supplication or praise towards the main Buddha.
