About this talk. In this 18-minute session from a Long Life Puja ceremony in Singapore, Lama Zopa Rinpoche teaches the practical method for multiplying merit. He opens with a direct business analogy: just as entrepreneurs seek the most profitable ventures, practitioners should focus on the most effective methods for accumulating merit—the essential cause of all happiness. He walks through how to collect merit in daily activities: working, eating, sleeping, studying Dharma, meditating. The core practice is the Mungtsema mantra, chanted seven times at the end of prayers to increase merit one hundred thousand times. He emphasizes that without merit, no genuine happiness is possible. He also thanks the community members and teachers at Amitābha Buddhist Center for their dedication to spreading the Dharma.

Family members in this very lifetime, and then it has all the students, it has all the organizers, has all the students, all the benefactors, and all those who give up their lives to organization, general organization or other centers. And here, Amitābha Buddhist Center, which in the past, we’re doing now, who sacrificed the life for organization to have service to the sentient being teaching of Buddha. And then also everyone in this in the house or everyone in this world. So, met the lamas of our teachings, know, everybody’s whole Dharma, complete. May it be actualized within everyone’s heart in this very lifetime, not too late in the second.
After we after one has pledged extensive merit, Even though it is normally decided this Mungtsema mantra, the mantras to increase the virtue, you see, one hundred thousand times whatever virtue we practice. These prayers to, let’s say, the prayers to expand our prayer. Know, Buddha’s name to expand our whatever prayer we did to expand, expressing our wishes to to be achieved. So even though not very common to do in the public, but however, it’s good to do individually. I suggest so because It’s like business that, you know, where you look for you look for business, people doing business, you look for where, whichever country, whichever place, where there is the the largest, the greatest profit you can get, whichever part of the world, you see, where you can get at the stock market or the bank or wherever you can get the most profit, you look for that.
So it’s even more important, even more much more important here when you’re collecting when you practice Dharma, you’re collecting merit here. Whichever method, you see that makes our merit increase so much. You see this even much more important. Believe in that, believe in believe in much more important here, you know, than you see in the the business you see. So because without merit, there’s no happiness at all.
Nothing nothing you can do. You see, nothing happen, nothing you can do without the without the cause of happiness, the merit. So therefore, in our daily life, you know, every time, whenever there’s opportunity, how you can collect most merit? While you’re working, while you’re eating, while you’re sleeping, while you’re talking, while you are doing practice session, mental offerings, while you’re meditating, how to while you’re doing business, while you’re doing job. So how to collect most merit with those with your those actions, even meditation, even studying Dharma.
You see how to make the most beneficial, meritorious. So therefore so this Buddha’s name is So even though your merit is very small, what you pray, it’s so small, but you but but you at the end, you chant this mantra seven times. Then the merit increases one one hundred thousand times. So it becomes big by increasing even though it’s very small so that so even though normally not common to do in public like this, one can do by oneself, you see. So, we become more skill more skillful, especially after we collected extensive merits like this.
Name that which helps to increase its merit to be reflected one hundred thousand times, but also multiply its merit one hundred as a as a whatever prayer brings success. So you can dedicate this. Also, you can dedicate the merit. Buddha’s name. So to to to act a prayer, which we need to actualize, you see, to succeed. Mhmm.
So in the some of the sadhanas of the type I’ve seen some of the sadhanas of Kechara, the practice, daily practice. So I’ve seen that that in the west, but at the end for success, there’s a Migyur Buddha’s name, and that makes great sense. At the end of the Migyur Buddha’s name, but that makes great sense, you see. So Buddha’s name the other Buddha’s name Due to the blessings of the truth, due to my due to the infallible dependent arising due to my special attitude, may all may all my pure prayers succeed immediately. So here, I would like to take up so today, I became very rich.
I became millionaire. I became millionaire. Maybe billionaire, I think. Not sure. Billionaire or millionaire or something.
So I think maybe I’ll go to vacation. Vacation in Phuket. Spend one month on the water or in the water. So, of course, all the money that you offered and for the, of course, the donation for the for the center to complete the complete the rest of things, whatever. And then, so here, so here I would like to get the opportunity to thank here from the bottom of my heart, so here, resident teacher, that is giving us a lot here.
Yeah. Sent him here in Singapore to teach Dharma, to teach philosophy, Lamrim philosophy. Heart of the heart of the eighty four thousand teachings of Buddha, the Lamrim. Then they then they extended philosophy. So that that so many people, especially young, like enjoying taking the precious opportunity and enjoying and awakening their mind, awakening your mind.
So yeah. So which is fulfilling the purpose of building the Amitābha Buddhist Center. So the learning philosophy and meditation practice on the Lamrim. But yep. Mhmm.
That. Then of course, next, next, Heng Cheng. So director, I’m not sure if you’re a practitioner. I think say, I think you did the director before, two times?
Thirty years. So for all this dedication, all this dedication service for developing the Amitābha center. He was director before long quite quite a number of years ago. Then again, I asked him to be director again. So I think So I would like to thank very much all the incredible dedication, all his service.
So I think there’s Dzambhala there. I think there’s Dzambhala wants to be with you, I think. Thank you very much. Thank you, Jochen. I enjoyed I enjoyed very much.
Thanks so much for. Thanks so much.
