About this talk. In this 25-minute talk from a long life puja ceremony, Lama Zopa Rinpoche offers direct instruction on making the ceremony maximally beneficial through proper visualization and dedication. He begins by explaining the boundless power of purification: even the heaviest karmas can be purified through reciting mantra or sacred texts like the Heart Sūtra. He then walks through the practice itself, emphasizing a key visualization—seeing each offering as filling the entire sky, which exponentially increases merit due to the Dharma connection. Finally, he offers guidance on bringing mindful, generous awareness into everyday practice and service. Suited for practitioners already participating in long life pujas or familiar with Dharma ceremony.

So I have to say something. After all that. Just I must from my side, I’m just a simple person, that ordinary person. I wish to do not have all those qualities of Buddha apart, as mentioned, but I I hope in the long run, in the future, to become like that. That’s my that’s my wish.

Praying for that. To be beneficial like that, at least in this lifetime. So, maybe I’ll pray. I’ll I’ll pray for my side. Maybe do it.

Maybe try to find get time to do some exercise. To get some exercise, maybe play some football, some soccer. Anyway, maybe attend the Olympics. Anyway, So, anyway, clearly make it as much as possible to be able to benefit a little bit in this world. Sentient beings in this world, to be able to offer a little bit of benefit.

The teaching of the our kind teacher, the compassionate Buddha. Śākyamūni. All lives. So easy. Who has who has revealed the unmistaken path to happiness of future lives to achieve all the happiness future lives and who reveal their unmistaken path, Four Noble Truths, the Cessation of the Paths and True Path, who explained very clearly that how to be free from saṃsāra, how we can get out how we can get out of saṃsāra.

So who has shown very clear, unmistaken complete path to liberation, who has shown a complete path to enlightenment, you see unmistaken complete path to enlightenment. They are to achieve the state which is perfected in the qualities of all the cessations and all the realizations. Except from our side, if we do not practice, do not follow. On Buddha’s side,, did everything, did everything, and always guide them. Any negative karma will commit any evil deeds, any harmful evil mind we have. Always this Buddha, our kind Buddha, gives hope.

I said always there’s hope to always there’s a hope. There’s a freedom to how to say, the freedom to change, one can remove or one can purify, one can remove any negative karma that we collected this life from past lives. So so far, that of course, no question about actualizing the path. Even just a few, even merely a Buddhist, even Buddhist names, mantras, even simply by that reciting those reciting say. Yes.

Those sutras, these teachings of Prajñāpāramitā wisdom by reciting those, such as the Heart Sūtra, the Dhammakara Sūtra, So powerful to so powerful to purify the karma, even by simply reciting a few syllables of mantras that one can purify all those very heavy karmas. Ten nonvirtues, like so many times described, accumulated in past lives. But even five immediate karmas: killed the father, killed the mother, very heavy karma, killed arhats, harmed Buddha, caused blood from Buddha, caused dissension among the Sangha who have attainments. That by committing that which makes one to be reborn in the lowest hot hell, which lasts, and one has to experience the heaviest suffering, inexhaustible heaviest suffering of the hell, heaviest suffering in the whole entire sense of which one has to experience the one full intermediate aeon. So all these get purified by reciting few syllables of mantra.

So is it so that so reading some reading some reading some of this few page of this the text, sūtra text or tantra text. That’s unbelievably easy to be free from the most terrible sufferings of saṃsāra. However, So, hoping to by creating merit as much as possible to offer to offer some service to the Buddhist teaching. So that’s So next thing I will mention is that since there are traditional offerings, things like that, the long life puja. So every so everyone to visualize, nonetheless, each offering fills the whole sky.

So everybody can visualize that and offer. Everyone this way, everyone can like if you visualize numberless numberless, each of them, then with each one, you collect the most extensive merit because of the Dharma connection that they have. With anyone who has a Dharma connection, one collects extensive merit. By doing this visualization, collect most extensive merit. So like that.

So more merit means easier to achieve quickly, achieve realization of the path. What your wishes easier to fulfill your wishes for happiness, easier to achieve enlightenment quickly, and to be able to liberate from the oceans of saṃsāra and lead them to enlightenment quickly. So each offering, this traditional offering, between the prayers has dedication and along with the prayer, the merit is accumulated due to by offering this. Merit is gained by offering this medicine. So it’s good to to to think you maybe chanting Tibetan, but you read the meaning there and you make sure that you get done the dedication that, by offering, made this happen. So that that’s very important for yourself and the sentient beings for whatever you’re going to pray or whatever.

So to happen that, don’t that become very meaningful in that in that way. So so I think to I thought to mention that. So not all this time, but any time. That’s just the that’s the education. Whenever we do Lama Chöpa, so to think what we will offer, visualize it filling the whole sky.

So so like that. And then even without thinking of Buddha, just thinking of the guru, one is collecting merit due to Dharma connection, and one collects the most extensive merit. But Like food offering time, as I can normally explain, each guru, or the Buddha, or the Guru, Buddha, Dharma, Sangha. The in the monasteries, before they begin the puja, main body, always begin the refuge. Very powerful.

This refuge prayer is very powerful. So it says to the kind guru who is — I don’t remember the exact words — but who is the embodiment of all the numberless past, present, future Buddhas. It starts like that. Then I cited, originator of the Sangha. So in a way, very powerful.

This refuge prayer that in a monastery normally recite at the beginning. So, anyway, with that visualization, then visualize, for every pulse of the body, that is a total complete, all the Buddha Dharma Sangha. That is each pulse of the body is a whole complete merit field. The whole entire Buddha puja merit field. So with that meditation, with awareness, so when we offer tsog, also like that we can do.

So when we do when we offer service, when we offer service, food, drinks, dress, offering bath, whatever service we do, and also that time, you know, with this meditation, you see, we want to, I would say, regularly do this with this meditation, with this mindfulness, act in service. Like that. Yeah. So that yeah. That’s all.

So I thought just to bring up that so in the future, in terms so this it’s very good to collect the most excellent merit by doing this visualization meditation. So think.
