So this is the meditation on the development stage and the ritual offering of. I go from refuge to the highest Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. From the virtuous merit that I collect by practicing giving and other perfections, may I attain the state of the buddha in order to benefit all sentient beings. I prostrate with body, speech, and mind in faith. Each and every offering I make, including those actually performed and those mentally transformed.
Every negativity collected from the beginninglessness of samsaric life, I confess. I rejoice in all the ordinary beings and all the noble beings’ virtuous actions. These Buddhas, by living as our guide, until saṃsāra ends, reveal the teachings to sentient beings. I dedicate my own virtues and the virtues of others to the great enlightenment. And then offer the outer mandala visualizing all most beautiful external environment possible and offered to Buddha and sentient beings, and then also the inner mandala offering.
So by the virtue of offering to you assembly of Buddhas visualized before me this mandala built on a base resplendent with flowers, saffron water, and incense, adorned with Mount Meru and the four continents as well as the sun and moon. May all sentient beings share in its good effects. So please enjoy well and bless me and all sentient beings to be released from the three poisonous minds, for I am offering without attachment my body, enemy, friend, and stranger, and all positions which are the object of my greed, ignorance, and hatred. I send forth this gorgeous Mandala to you, precious gurus. So then do a brief meditation.
If you’ve received the initiation, then do a meditation to generate oneself in the form of. Or if one doesn’t have the initiation, then briefly do a visualization. About four inches above the crown of my head appears a white lotus. Resting on this is a moon cushion, and seated upon this appears Dorje Sempa. This holy body is translucent white and light and is adorned with the six ornaments.
His right hand holds the dorje or vajra, symbolizing method, great bliss, and his left hand is the bell, symbolizing wisdom, emptiness. So the dorje and bell together signify his attainment of the enlightened state, the inseparable unity of the holy body of form, the holy body of wisdom, the rupakaya and dharmakaya. At his heart is a moon disc with the seed syllable HUM at the center and the letters of a hundred syllable mantra standing clockwise around the edge of the moon disc. Then spend a short time recollecting with deep regret any specific negativity you have created. Also think about negative karma in general.
The negative karma I have accumulated through beginningless saṃsāra cyclic existence resembles the treasure of a great king. Resembles the treasure of a great king. Though each negative karmic action leads to countless eons of suffering, it seems I’m constantly striving to create nothing but this. So even though I might try in this life to avoid creating non virtue and practicing virtuous actions day and night without respite, I must purify these faults so that no trace of them remains.
And while still stained by them, the lord of death will come suddenly and without warning. So at that moment, won’t I experience incredible suffering? Experience incredible suffering? So you who can save me and guide me from such torment out of your great compassion, please guide me and help me purify my negative karma. So then visualize the empowerment coming from Dorje Sempa, Guru Dorje Sempa, light radiating out in all directions from the HUM at Dorje Sempa’s heart, requesting the Buddhas to bestow their blessings.
They accept this request and send forth light rays, a white light, and nectar, the essence of these being the knowledge of the Buddha’s holy body, speech, and mind. So these rays and nectar shower down like a rain of milk and are absorbed into the HUM at Dorje Sempa’s heart, filling his whole body completely. They greatly increase the magnificence of his appearance and the brilliance of the mantra at his heart. So now while reciting the hundred syllable mantra, visualize the white rays and nectar streaming down continuously from the HUM at Dorje Sempa’s heart, penetrating through the crown of my head and filling my entire body and mind with infinite bliss. While continuing with recitation and the flow of light and nectar, perform the purification visualizations, the purifying negative karma of body, of speech, and of mind.
So purifying those of body, the light rays and nectar coming from Guru Dorje Sempa flush them all out through the lower openings of my body like the filthy water that flows from a drainpipe, and I become completely emptied of all these stains. They exist no longer anywhere. Purification of speech. Delusions and negative karma of speech appear like liquid tar. And when the light rays and nectar fill my body just as water fills a dirty glass, the negativities, like the dirt, rise to the top and leave me through openings of the body, and I become completely emptied of these stains.
Then the purification of mind. The delusions and negative karma of mind appear as darkness at the heart, a dark spot at the heart. And when struck by the forceful stream of rays and nectar, they instantly disappear, swept away like garbage in a gutter when struck by a torrent of water. So I become completely emptied of these stains. They no longer exist anywhere.
Or you could do a simplified visualization of collecting all delusions and negative karma, body, speech, and mind, from beginningless lifetimes appearing as this dark darkness, dark spot at the heart. And as I recite the mantra, immeasurably and unimaginably powerful rays of white light pour down from Guru Dorje Sempa’s heart and penetrate through the crown of my head. And instantly, the darkness of delusions and negative karma of my heart is dispelled. Just in the same way as the darkness in a room is dispelled and disappears the moment a light is switched on. Before the eyes of Guru Dorje Sempa, make a vow to not create such negative karma anymore from now until and specify a period that you intend to keep.
Guru Dorje Sempa is extremely pleased and says to you that all your negatives, obscurations, and degenerated commitments and pledges have now become completely purified. And he melts into light and dissolves into me. My body, speech, and mind become inseparably one with Guru Dorje Sempa’s holy body, speech, and mind. And then if you had the initiation, you generate yourself as Dorje Sempa. And if not, then you visualize the Dorje Sempa appearing at the heart and remaining at the heart throughout the rest of the meditation.
Ho. In the space before myself, from the enjoyment body of indivisible great bliss and emptiness, appears the complete supporting and supported mandalas of Vajrasattva. Clouds of offerings fill all of space. In the sphere of great nondualistic bliss, all beings miraculously appear as gods and goddesses, embodying thoroughly developed method and wisdom as skillful dancers manifesting peace, expansion, power, and wrath. And bless the inner offerings.
Say the mantra to dispel all obstacles and purify. So they are purified of all ordinary appearance. And then visualize. All becomes empty. And from the sphere of emptiness appears the letter transforms into a very large and spacious skull cup containing the five meats and five nectars.
Melting, they all transform into a great ocean of wisdom nectar. So this pure offering is the yogi’s commitment. And as the pure vision of their great bliss transcends being an object of ordinary senses, it is the basis of all attainments and the most supreme nectar. Therefore, oh, guru, with your non-conceptual simultaneously born great bliss, Please enjoy it. And now the section on presentation of the offerings and recitation of the mantra while making prostration.
Om, O miraculous rainbow cloud appearing in the space of dharmakaya, holy body of Vajrasattva, having purified the hallucinated vision and dualistic conception that fails to recognize that the guru in essence is the deity, the dakini and the dharma protector. In order to please you, Guru Vajrasattva, I am presenting these sacred ingredients as pure offerings to be enjoyed by your five senses. Please bless me to generate simultaneously born great bliss. So please bless me to generate simultaneously born great bliss. So now while repeating the mantra, do full length prostrations and visualize each time as going down and getting up, being purified by the streaming white light and nectar streaming into the body, purifying the negative karma and stains.
