Relax your body, and let your mind quiet down. Keep your awareness in the present. Think that you will do this meditation for the benefit of all living beings. Now visualize in the space in front of you, Tārā, a manifestation of all positive energy and positive qualities. She’s exquisitely beautiful and youthful.
Her body is of emerald green light, translucent and radiant. You can visualize her as big or small as you like. She is seated on a moon cushion that rests on an open lotus. Her left leg is drawn up, signifying her complete control over sexual energy, and her right leg extended, indicating that she is ready to rise to the aid of all beings. Her left hand is in front of her heart in a gesture of giving refuge, Palm facing out, thumb and ring finger touching, remaining three fingers raised.
Her right hand rests on her right knee in a gesture of granting sublime realizations. Palm facing out, thumb and index finger touching, remaining fingers pointing down. In each hand, she holds the stem of a mystical blue flower that symbolizes the unblocking of the central channel. She’s looking right at you with a loving smile. Her clothing is of celestial silk, and her ornaments of precious gems.
Concentrate for a while on the visualization, feeling that Tārā is really there, and open your heart to the energy of her inexhaustible loving kindness. Now think of your problems, your needs, your aims, and make a prayer to Tārā from your heart asking for her help. And she responds by sending streams of light into you. White light flows from her forehead into yours, eliminating all obstacles and negative energy from your body. And then red light flows from her throat into yours, eliminating obstacles and negative energy from your speech.
And blue light flows from her heart into your heart, eliminating all obstacles and negative energy from your mind. Mind. Feel now that you are completely free of all problems and that you have received the inspiration and energy to accomplish your goals. Now Tārā comes to the space above your head, facing the same way as you. The whole visualization dissolves into green light.
This descends through the crown of your head and comes to your heart center, the seed of your mind. Your mind merges with Tārā’s mind. Your total experience, total awareness is one of clarity, tranquility, and bliss. Remain in this state as long as possible. When thoughts or feelings arise, simply observe them with detachment without judging them as good or bad.
Let them go, and return your attention to the experience of clarity and bliss. To conclude the session, dedicate the positive energy you have generated to all beings that they may attain the great joy of liberation from confusion and suffering.
