About this talk. In this one-minute closing, Ven Jampa Ignyen dedicates the merit of a karma teaching on mental factors. He acknowledges that while the preceding discussion was necessarily superficial, such investigation remains beneficial because it addresses what practitioners encounter every day. He teaches that dharma itself is virtue—the eleven positive mental factors—and leads the group in a dedication designed to protect accumulated merit from destructive emotions like anger and hatred. The session concludes with traditional prayers for swift enlightenment and the liberation of all beings. Pitched at practitioners familiar with basic dharma and dedication practices.

In quite a brief period of course we’ve just been able to often gloss over some of the issues and investigate these mental factors you know just in in a very superficial way but it’s beneficial even though it’s only superficial it is useful and hopefully we have individually an opportunity later to go through them again and develop further clarity on them. Because that’s what we’re dealing with every day. That’s where we live and continue to live. Right, so we should just do a quick dedication. Dedication is just to protect any of the virtue we accumulate in discussing these issues discussing dharma because dharma has the wonderful capacity of making the mind lighter and more joyful and that’s because dharma really means virtue.

So dharma really is the eleven positive mental factors. To preserve those positive mental factors especially from anger, hatred and so on we always try and dedicate our merit to the benefit of all sentient beings. Right, so we’ll just recite the dedication merits of these virtuous actions, may I quickly attain the state of a Guru Buddha and lead all living beings without exception into that enlightened state. May the supreme dual bodhicitta that has not arisen arise and grow, and may that which has arisen not diminish, but increase more and more.
