About this talk. In this 45-minute commentary, Kyabje Rinpoche addresses a core structural choice in Vajrayoginī: why practitioners begin completion stage work at the navel chakra rather than the heart, as in Guhyasamāja. He walks through the subtle anatomy of the central channel, showing how gathering winds and drops produces spontaneous great bliss most swiftly. He covers the three messengers (inner, outer, secret) and their divisions, explains why starting at the heart risks lung (wind illness), and unpacks the significance of the white and red drops and the Hung syllable at the heart center. Intended for practitioners with Vajrayoginī initiation already practicing completion stage.

So for that purpose, shall we listen to this listen, contemplate, and meditate on these teachings of of the Naropa Yoga, which is the which has the which is the teaching of the Mahāyāna and also has entire included entire essence, teaching of the Chakrasamvara Tantra. So now so yesterday, we had stopped the teaching at where one enters the mother’s womb. And now, the following, the teaching is now gathering all the channels, drops winds into the central channel. And the place to gather all the central channel is going to be the most supreme or the best channel to collect all the winds. And also well as gathers the the three types of messengers.
And as for the messenger, there are two types of messengers. The inner, outer, outer, and secret messengers. And and within each has three divisions. The the supreme supreme middling and the minor messengers. And here is yeah.
So as for the inner messenger, it has three super and the the minor one. And supreme one is the the the three are the three channels or are the three knowledge ladies at the heart chakra. And the middling one middling inner messenger is the four channels of the heart and the minor was the 24 channels of the body, speech, and mind as well as channels of the eight doors of sense essence power. So in the last teaching we talked about the divisions or giving, yes, subdivisions or demonstrate with analogies or examples and saying that one has to be skilled in penetrating in the path. And so it is because if one is skilled skilled in penetrating through the path then without taking a long long time, one can attain one’s achievements.
And if one is not skilled, then it will take Even one practiced for a long time cannot achieve one’s spiritual attainment. So now here, to become as skilled in penetrating through the path, now this part shows about the importance or the important parts of important, yeah, importance of or or or important, yeah. So important places places of of penetrating penetrating into into the the parts parts now. Now. So the drop, channeled wind and drop are the three places or important places to penetrate in one’s meditation.
And within these three, in this text, the channels are considered to be the most supreme. The definition of the messenger here is is the one who produces or one who gives one the wishes of attainment. So messenger in general terms is the is the messenger who who who accomplishes or wants wants wants completes ones work by taking messenger to other person. So in there are there’s an unknown words in Tibetan like ponya, pangshin, and the chamtha which are meant to be very old words. He’s known himself messenger or a postman in So, yeah, these words are the very old Tibetan words, the and the so forth, are the messenger or postman in the synonyms words.
The meaning is the punya is the messenger, punya is the postman and śamatha is also called because in olden days during this monarch, there are no vehicles like So cars and so forth. So the person who is called chamtha means neither bird nor horse which means it’s a bit slower than the bird, but faster than the horse. And so within the messengers, the three inner messengers are considered to be supreme and within each, it has supreme middling and minor. The which is the central channel was considered to be the the supreme places on where one one penetrates. It is set forth because one has to attain the spontaneous great bliss by by collecting or gathering the wind and mind into the central channel.
And it set forth that the by Yeah, so it is one can achieve that innate bliss, spontaneous great bliss swiftly by penetrating through the central channel. Yeah, by collecting the wind and mind into the central channel within a short time, within a short period. So it is much our, yeah, and attainment of spontaneous great bliss through penetrating on the other channels except the central channel wheel take longer. So for the text, the Tantra. It said for the three knowledge ladies or the drops, central channel drops and the wind are the most supreme channels to attain the yeah, which produce the spontaneous great bliss swiftly or quickly.
So for that purpose the yogis will offer to or will praise, will offer to that or seek knowledge lady. So there are the the interpretation of this the meaning of this versus which Jose said has two types of it’s been interpreted in different terms, interpreted according with the generation stage and the interpretation towards during completion stage. And so here we are on the completion stage. Here So here, making, the seeking or making offering towards knowledge lady with the, in the path, the yogi path without or yeah, yogi path without attachment or desire. So here, making a paying homage or making offering, which means example like we prostrate and say the prostrate and to prostrate there should be a basis or object where we prostrate and and at what time when one prostrate to that object and the proposed of the making object.
So it has this it implies these meanings. And when we make a illustration, they are paying homage. There is the object where one pay homage and there is one agent who makes pay homage. So likewise here showing who as they said, the one offers or making offerings towards the knowledge lady and what type of person is suitable or should be making that offering is a person who meditates in the deity yoga that deity yoga and before that one has experienced experienced or completed any of the longer or greater practices of generation stage. So where one prostrate or where one make or pay homage here is the knowledge lady which is the central channel.
Nice. And time of the making offering of seeking that knowledge lady is set forth in six times, of six periods, which means the three parts of the day and three parts of the night becomes twenty four hours. So, and then we have to produce or yeah, Or pass collect the the breath or a ear or wind into the central channel. At this stage, we are doing a respiration, but it is done through the other two channel, right and left, Roma and Kyema channels. And at this stage our wind are not passing through the central channel.
Both the right and the left channel has to produce or gives the wind through the central channel. So the verses said, the middling one, the middle one, which refers to the middle one is the central channel which is between the right and the left channel or Yeah. Right and right and left channel. And all and all the tip of the right and left channel are yeah. And has passes through or gathers at the central channel.
So, and from the root root root that the the verses of that text. The yeah, the root text of the chakra are the Heruka Tantra. And and of the word says the chak in Tibetan which is excellent or most supreme. Here, supreme refers to as the chakra, chakra at the navel. As the central channel, it has many chakras.
Central channel itself has the six chakras, the forehead, throat, heart, navel at secret places in the tip of the organs. And within the chakras they hear the supreme refers to the chakra at the navel and if one penetrates on that meditate Penetrating through the second the navel chakra, then Yeah. Then Yeah. To In order to attain the spontaneous great bliss, the best chakra or the most supreme chakra is the navel chakra to penetrate on to generate that spontaneous great bliss. So here, the penetrate supreme at navel chakra is set forth in the Vajrayoginī practice.
And so beginning of the, when once, the very beginning of the penetrating on the chakras, the beginning should be focused or penetrated on the navel chakra. Whereas in Guhyasamāja system they said one should begins from penetrating on the heart channel. Yeah, heart chakra as well as in the Guhyasamāja Tantra first penetrates at heart chakra. Jiguras said that one begins at the heart chakra, it is because heart chakra is like the root and all the winds and so forth has to be gathered at the heart chakra. So due to that, due to that, if one start from the very, I mean, start penetrating to the heart chakra from the very beginning, then along with it, one can easily combine penetrate or collect all the other channels very easily.
So excuse me. Guhyasamāja system on the generation stage has five divisions. From the beginning of that is the blessings of self. And so it is done by penetrating our attention at the heart of one’s heart and then blessing oneself. So, but some other texts as well as the hearer, the Vajrayoginī practice has set forth.
It is true that all these winds drops has to be gathered at the heart chakra or heart channel. But if one does begins at heart chakra focusing, penetrating, focusing at heart channel from the very beginning then there is a danger of generating a word called lung in English and Tibetan. It’s, I mean, it’s very common in English when you use lung. So for that to avoid that, for that reason, first it’s good to meditate penetrating through penetrating, focusing on the navel chakra. So here, heart channel is the most supreme in this text on Vajrayoginī practice.
It is because in the verses of the root tantra as said for word uses the syllable which is the rakta in Sanskrit is the red drop. The red the one where red drop which located at the navel where there is the inner heat or tummo. And the word, Tibetan word was included in that verse at the end of it. So which implies not only focused on that the white drop also should also penetrate or focus on that the white drop at the crown because by, by mixing of, by gathering of those white and red drops together and, and by, yeah, so by paying or by paying attention attention or focusing on both and by gathering of it, mixing each other which produces the true mixing of those white and red drop then through it produces the great bliss or spontaneous great bliss inside the central the knowledge lady, which is which is the central channel. So it is said for that here, the penetrating on the chakra, the focusing at the chakra, the navel chakra is the best to produce the best for producing spontaneous bliss.
It is because it because because at the heart channel, at the center of the heart channel, there is the is the white drop who is in nature of the father deity father deity father deity’s seat in the nature of father deity’s seat syllable or father deity which is Heruka. So here, during the body mandala in earlier classes, we went through at the center is the one, which is which is which refers towards the the the father’s or white drop. So so that white drop is is is the Hung syllable and the nature of Hung syllable which has five characteristics or five parts with the syllable or the sound or the syllable of u, which is the body and head of the and the crescent moon, crescent moon drop and So Mhmm. So it’s a and the head the crown or head of the heart syllable and crescent moon and then the the drop and the. So as during the inner offerings we have set forth the verses start our verses inside the inner offerings comes the Hum syllable will transform into Khatvanga which is Father Heruka.
And so here the five parts of that Hung syllable symbolizes the five Buddha family, five Buddha’s Buddha’s of the Amitābha, Vairochana, Amoghasiddhi, Akṣobhya and Ratnasambhava. Nice. Nice. Nice. Nice.
It was not the, the one. It’s just it’s what is called chi and it’s similar, sounds. Chi here refers to as the springtime, actually. Spring. And during that springtime, which is the Hung syllable.
Here the the so yeah. So those are the five parts of this syllable symbolizes the five five Buddhas. And then the chi here is this word is called spring and it’s example here because the spring is the time spring spring is the time that all the flowers blossoms and so forth. So likewise, the the the the period. It’s like the spring is the time the way all the flowers and blossoms and yet a tree grows.
That is the time considered to be a time where during that period people and beings also have a stronger attachment or desire. So likewise, so here the it’s being used for that Buddha or a drop that which can produce the spontaneous great bliss. So at the navel, the center of the navel is in the triangle shape. Inside it, it’s located red bodhicitta, which comes from the from the mother, which is in the the aspect of Pham thing bo.
