About this talk. Lama Zopa Rinpoche teaches on eight concrete benefits that arise from placing palms together in respect to a Buddha image. In this 4-minute session, he outlines each benefit in turn: a perfect body and functioning sense organs in future lives; freedom from obstacles to practicing the Dharma; the support of virtuous companions; capacity to maintain pure morality; the development of genuine devotion; rebirth in human form; and access to the exalted path—the five progressive stages of spiritual development that lead to the direct cessation of delusion and complete liberation. He also explains that when making this gesture to one Buddha with the intention of honoring all Buddhas, the accumulated benefit multiplies accordingly. Pitched at practitioners already engaged with Dharma study and practice.

Just the minute when we put palms together with that, immediately become cause to achieve enlightenment. By the way, liberation. By the way, happiness, future lives, all that. Then that result, you experience happiness in the future life, not just one future life, but hundreds of thousands of thousands.
So much happiness we experience. Then of course, by the way, success with life comes without thinking of it. The minute we put a palm together to a Buddha statue, then we create benefits. The first one is a perfect body. We receive each a perfect body next time.
Perfect sense organs, perfect organs. Nothing deformed or anything disagreeable. Perfect body. Then we say no obstacle to practising Dharma, especially to benefit others. Like taking on vows and so forth.
So if you’re deformed like that, you know, in perfect sense, they they they want to practice them like to take ordinary things like that. Then next one, it creates cause to have perfect surrounding people. Then if you have a perfect surrounding people, then you’re able to practice Dharma, they support you. Mhmm. But you’re able to benefit others.
Uh-huh. So that’s you have by having perfect surrounding people. The third benefit is that one is able to live in pure morality. Without morality, there’s no liberation, enlightenment. Yeah.
So that’s the very foundation. Even the guru yoga in next life. Without morality, can’t receive. Then next, fourth, devotion. So without devotion, again, then you can’t have any realization.
Can’t achieve any realization. Devotion to the Dharma Sangha, without that, then there won’t be also a softening karma. Softening of the heart. Big heart so that you’re able to lead you’re you’re able to to work for others and able to lead sentient beings. Mhmm.
Then next, six,, we get born in human. Seven. By putting palms together, all of this leads to But you create cause to to receive the exalted path, ārya path, path of the five paths to future liberation, path of accumulation, path of preparation, path of seeing, path of meditation, path of no more learning. So if you achieve these exalted path, which is wisdom directly and then that’s the one level where you can actually cease directly the delusion. Delusion, the karmic, the disturbing process.
So by traversing the exalted path, directly cease the, you know, the level one, intellectual, the delusion, the level one. Then by traversing the meditation, path of meditation, then you cease, the innate delusions Mhmm. Mhmm. The the obscurations that ceased. Only by traversing the exalted path, then you’re able to remove the delusion, karma, including a seed of delusion.
Then one of the you can able to liberation from the whole entire suffering and the entire cycle of death and rebirth. You’re free forever. Otherwise, you can’t be liberated totally totally from saṃsāra. So it’s very important. Being born in Buddha’s land, the result of each of these exalted paths.
Then the last one thing, number is enlightenment. Crossing over to. So so when put the palms together, we have start to put the Mhmm. The jewel aspect. This is a very important.
It depends. It means it takes one one hundred thousand in the temple, small or big. You know, when you when you do like this, approach to I’m prostrating, you see. Mhmm. I told you to put that like this.
Not you don’t have to think one one by one. There’s so many, you see. But, you see, I’m prostrating to all the Buddhas. Mhmm. It’s good at that level.
Then, you see, receive eight benefits, one hundred thousand. That minute, should go like this. There’s also ten benefits. Next, you achieve kings. You get born a king’s family.
Then extensive form, extensive wealth, extensive wisdom of Dharma, extensive devotion, concentration, and extensive wisdom realization, extensive remembrance, see, the memory. So the is also you achieve. The minute when you put palms together, you put them down. So then how many billion times you go down and prostrate then? Mhmm.
Because then this one a thousand. Mhmm. You create ten benefits like that. One thousand times.
