About this talk. In this 39-minute Medicine Buddha Puja teaching from Taiwan, Lama Zopa Rinpoche shows how each ritual component — offering, visualization, dedication — becomes a complete spiritual path. He opens by explaining why extra offerings matter: they create additional causes for enlightenment and faster liberation. He teaches visualization practice: beams of light from the Buddha that purify body and mind. The core teaching is emptiness — when you hold even a single moment’s awareness that the I and all phenomena lack independent existence, it acts like an atomic bomb against negative karma. He then walks through proper dedication: generating bodhicitta, the resolve to achieve enlightenment in order to lead all beings there. For practitioners ready to integrate emptiness with ritual practice.

So as there are more offerings, as the one extra offering, that means one more cause for enlightenment and liberation from saṃsāra. So there’s more extra merit that we can collect that’s very much more powerful for your own success, the temporal and ultimate happiness success. Also, we dedicate to others, it’s more powerful, more to give, to give away to others.
In particular, visualizing beams from the Buddha, in terms of purifying the body and mind, can also be in that way. So now here at the end, which is meditating by remembering emptiness. In emptiness, there’s no creator of karma. The I, the I with ignorance, there’s no action being created.
In emptiness, similarly in emptiness, there’s no object, no karma created that was created, the creator, the I, the karma. So by meditating on emptiness, even just a second, not just a minute, but even a second, then it becomes like an atomic bomb on negative karma. So powerful. So now, similarly, awareness while you can hold emptiness, then your mind will label this and that and just giving teachings, enlightenment for sentient beings.
Therefore I must achieve enlightenment for sentient beings. May I achieve that purpose, enlightenment, and lead all the sentient beings. So while you are saying this, you have to practice. You have to meditate that each one is immediately imputed. You’re looking at all this empty, that naturally happens. But at least while you are saying the words, saying the prayers and the words, at the same time, they should be accompanied with the mindfulness.
Therefore I must achieve enlightenment for sentient beings, and lead all the sentient beings to that particular enlightenment by myself alone. Then as a part of total transformation practice, whatever merits you collect and dedicate with the bodhicitta. All the practice integrating into five, all the practice of the life integrating into the five powers.
So as it’s mentioned there, so then whenever one collects merit, may I dedicate that to the Mahāyāna bodhicitta, to every realization of bodhicitta. So that it becomes part of that practice, that part of the white seed. So
