About this talk. In this 23-minute teaching from a Hong Kong retreat, Lama Zopa Rinpoche shows practitioners how to visualize and offer in the context of Buddha’s pure lands during daily sadhana practice. Beginning with bodhicitta motivation—the intention to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings—he walks through the expansive offerings found in Amitābha Buddha’s pure land: vast arrays of water offerings, flowers, lights, and music. He emphasizes particular benefits of sound offerings, which ripen as an attractive voice and widespread influence. Rather than limiting offerings to what’s physically available, practitioners are encouraged to recall these extensive offerings from the pure land, mentally multiplying their practice’s merit. The teaching remains practical, addressing how practitioners at home can make meaningful offerings despite limited resources.

Generating for [unclear]. Then the bodhicitta text. If you have the book, then you should read the translation. No matter how long it takes time, no matter how hard it is, I must reach full enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. And the needs of all my past kindness mothers’, happiness, realization, past liberation, enlightenment, everything. For the success the success or the attaining enlightenment for.

And and for quote, and the quick also quick success at reaching enlightenment and the quick and works for sentient beings and teaching the Buddha. Perfect, please. So visualize that. I meant how I described in the teachings, I meant about Buddha’s pure land. So whichever pure land you want.

Blessing the offerings. offerings here, offerings in all the extensive offerings. Is in all the and in Amitābha pure land, and they have all those extensive offerings. So many thousands of like to water water offerings. So many hundreds of water offerings and flowers.

There are, as well as, all the extensive offerings there, so many hundreds of water offerings, and so many thousands of water offerings, as well as all the flowers outside. Inside also, fruit offerings, tea offerings, and that. And then, as well as then, that every day set it up to offer. Then also the offerings, and there is a house where the group makes all the offerings. So while during blessing, so whatever music that one has in it, whatever should offer.

Because each of the music offerings, drum or cymbal or bell, every music has the merit of offering to the Buddha, immediately everything becomes cause to achieve enlightenment and liberation. Then there are many other benefits, ultimate benefits and then temporary benefits. There are so many benefits. That of offering sound to Buddha. Then it’s a result, it’s a common result when you have very you have a very sweet voice, very attractive, very sweet voice that draws so many sentient beings.

So, like those singers, are many millions of people who get attracted to droves. Having very enchanting voice that so many millions millions of people are, see, they say, attracted to that. That so that that is one that’s a part of a small benefit. That’s a small benefit among the the all these extensive benefit, of offering sound of music such as a bell to the Buddha. So, becoming well known in this world that other people, they get attracted to a voice.

When you sing songs, they’re drawn to the So a small benefit from the extensive benefit of offering bell sound to the Buddha, so that becoming famous in the world and all the people, young and old, get so drawn, enchanted by your voice. And here and here, I would like to emphasize that when you when you do your sadhanas or when you do seven limb practice, medicine Buddha or Tārā, or even when you do your daily practice. Not all those pujas, but maybe your daily practice. So you are most welcome to use to remember the all the extensive offerings that in Amitābha, it’s called Amitābha Buddha, Buddha Amitābha pure land, the precious place. So there are extensive offerings.

The outside flowers, they’re not they’re not actually flower, but they’re sweet flowers planted outside. And the garden, deers, you know, they, you know, they so that the deer so they can eat, you see. But so but then they last also a long time. You can offer you can offer for a whole year. So there’s no you know, you don’t have to water.

So outside, there are many silk flowers. So and it function flower, you know, shape design, you know. So so all those offerings, there are many, many water offerings, also many thousand light offerings. So so you can think you can you can remember that in the all of this during your daily practice. And then also also at Sera, There are so many water offerings, different rooms.

I say, are large ones. There are many, many. Many of these Christmas lights, whole ceiling is covered. Whole ceiling, one big offering room, whole ceiling is covered with a Christmas light offering. Then the lights inside and also outside.

The nighttime outside. Didn’t make so many flowers. So you can offer every time when you do your sadhana. So whenever you sit in the section of offerings, you can remember all that and place an offer. So so I’m I’m suggesting that so please use it.

So it like that, you see. So, from each of those offerings, flower, light offering, whatever, usually, are ten benefits, sūtra says ten benefits of offering light. The ultimate one is liberation from saṃsāra and enlightenment. Every offering has this. So, fruit offering, tea offering, tea offering is offered to Kṣitigarbha.

The bread, some bread or the recently, I’ve been requesting telling different places to the so the students within the FPMT organization, even the even the people outside, anybody can offer When they do the daily practice, when the session open, they can offer any time. So here, today, I would like to mention the same thing here. And then this way, those monks, nuns, they are taking care of or doing a service offering. It also makes very, very meaningful effort. So so here at your own house, there’s no space, to make sense, offering or, you know, kind of food or the no time to make an offering, you see, an extensive offering.
