About this talk. The image of Longdol Lama patrolling a yearlong Kangyur Lung with a stick — hitting anyone who dozed off, watching his audience shrink from hundreds to five — is the sharpest anecdote in this 91-minute biographical session with Khensur Rinpoche. The format is an editorial working session: a Western editor asks clarifying questions as Rinpoche fills in gaps of his life story. Topics include the Kangyur Lung — the oral transmission of the entire Buddhist canon — and why it took eight months of six-hour daily sessions, sponsored by the Tibetan government to preserve unbroken lineages; the mo divination process explained step by step; his uncle’s dual life as monk and trader; and a fever epidemic at Sera that killed two or three monks daily, during which Rinpoche and his teacher took the opportunity for a six-week Yamāntaka retreat.

For attending that? No. Don’t. No. You You don’t.

Have to get any the individuals don’t have to give anything to attend. Mhmm. In the Tibetan tradition, to attain enlightenment teaching, you don’t you don’t give money. Australia has no Yeah. Australia, no tradition for giving money.

I’m sorry. I mean, was one to be a sponsor or a patron was one individual choice. One wasn’t assigned to be a sponsor or to give money or in Australia, there’s no one who voluntarily sponsors things. No. Nobody understands.

Nobody has the concept of that at all. It’s quite alien. He’s playing. He’s joking. Rinpoche and Sera Je Lama Chunze debated at Jang Guncho, and that was I’ve got nineteen fifty eight.

That would be when Rinpoche was in the I can’t say it. Is that could you just check that one? You have to check out the Lara. Okay. Lauer comes in.

Is that an a you put in there? Yeah. Yeah. So debated. Debated sat maybe sat and debate sat.

Sat in debate. Sat in debate. Because they they both sat together. Yeah. That’s right.

And what it says, Yeah. It’s just a matter. He he can look up these words in in in his Tibetan dictionary. Oh, I He’ll know the words. Yeah.

It’s just that you have to get the exact spelling so that so that He looks it up in Tibetan and then reads off the English side. Is that okay? Well, you can write them up the exact spelling, then I can I can I can put them in phonetics? But I don’t I don’t want So you want him to write it out in Tibetan? Yeah.

If he wants or he can whatever. I see. This this this is right. And so I mean all of these, I can I don’t my spelling isn’t good enough? So he can look up the spelling in his Tibetan dictionary, and then write it in Tibetan and then I can then it’s quite easy to phoneticize it.

Oh, okay. That’s no problem. Transmission. So so we cross all of that. Sorry.

I just The So, Rinpoche said the the oral transmission and the teaching, I mean, it’s like one thing. Yeah. Yeah? And It’s just No. The the No.

So then there was a while they were attending the teaching at the the transmission, then they would recite a specific mantra. Mhmm. And that was the only commitment. Right. Right.

Okay. Thanks. It’s just this this term is so exotic. It’s not gonna have any meaning to it. Just a layperson reading this book.

That’s all. I see. Mhmm. I’m gonna have to It does. You know what I mean?

You sort of get into it, and and they quite understand. So would that that have been one of the last times that that was given in Tibet then before everyone left? There was one subsequent to that. So he there was only two given during his ten years at Oh, really? Sarah.

Oh. Oh. And did we find out why it was given at Saur Khamsan? The the the patron was member of. Yeah.

Fine. Okay. The the The Khamtsen. The the the the the is from. Ah.

Yeah. That’s his council. That’s why So that’s why it was given there. That’s why it was given there. Even though the sponsor was below the Khamsan — khamsan.

Is this the Snawang La, the Yeshi-la’s relative? Yeah. When when remember she gave the transmission in Dharmasala, it was Yeshi’s uncle who was — give me khamsan. Come on. Give me Khamtsen.

I thought he was talking about this first time. No. Was my mistake. Oh, is it? Yeah.

Oh, good. I’m glad we clarified that. So the first time, who was the sponsor? Tibetan government. Tibetan government.

This one? Yeah. They were the patrons. Really? That’s very interesting.

Is the Tibetan government from from time to time patron for different ceremonies. So sometimes the person Mhmm. Because the transmission is so rare that it ordered the Tibetan government from time to time its patron of the transmission in order that the lineage not be broken. So the the Tibetan government sponsors a transmission at each of the three monasteries, Ganden, Drepung, and Sera. In order yeah.

That that they would be given at those places. Oh, of this locker? So there were three they it was given at the same time at three different places by three different lamas. Oh! It wasn’t — at Drepung, it wasn’t able to be finished because the lama got sick.

Is when when Rinpoche did it, that was Sakyadawa too, was it, when he gave? It’s the sixth sixth month of the Tibetan year in the fifteenth day began. Sixth month Fifteenth day. So he began the transmission on the sixth month, fifteenth day, and it went to the second month of the fifteenth day. And there were many, but this is there were many interruptions or many breaks during this period.

I see. It took, actually, about six months to give it. Tibetan sixth month. I’ve got April. It’s alright.

I’ve got April seventy two. Well, I’ve I’ve got April seventy two. Did you know me? Dollar? Shipper?

Because at the end that could be right. End of that year, he goes to Sarah as as. What’s he saying? Is he going through months? What’s he telling you months?

How long it took? I’m there to see nobody. What was the name also? Name also? Ben.

It took eight months. Nine. Yeah. I’ve got here. It took nine months.

So, yeah, you should have asked me. The next eight months. Yeah. Took eight months. When when when?

At At Eight months. Month Eight months. Yeah. Yeah. But, yeah, that truth.

I’ve got seventy three days. Got eight months, seventy three days. I don’t know why I’ve got that. It took eight months and the actual transmission took six months, but during this period there were two months of holidays. Prayer festival period, there was a break.

Uh-huh. And there was also the breaks at the bimonthly purification ceremony. Then there was a break at the end of the summer summer rains retreat. There was two months two months holiday. Oh.

What’s the bimonthly purification ceremony? Is that only in in Dharmasala? Or No. It’s just for monks. Everywhere?

Mhmm. Yeah. How long does that does that occur? Just once a year? No.

By every two months? No. Not I should say weekly. Biweekly. Every two weeks.

There’s a a ceremony that the monks attend. How long does it take? An hour and a half. Hour. Hour and a half.

Oh, but it just somehow cut into the time, did it? They used can do low jump capsule. Jump. So so so so so so so So he used to start the transmission at eight o’clock in the morning, but the purification ceremony would start at nine and they used the same assembly place. Oh, I see.

So, in those days, they wouldn’t have the transmission. Not at all. The the So how many hours a day would you I gave the chance to So during this purification? This during ceremony took place twice a month, so it would give the people a chance to do whatever work they had needed to do and also give Rinpoche a chance to relax. That’s good.

Yeah. Necessary. Yeah. Oh, that’s good. And how how many hours a day did he give for transmission?

Eight hours a day. Whoo. Is is he is he reading all the time? So this was broken up during the course of the day with prayers and breaks for tea in the bathroom. So it would take he actually gave the transmission for maybe six hours a day.

Mhmm. And the rest of the two hours were taken up by prayers and things like that. Mhmm. Still, it’s a long time. And he’s reading from from the script?

So each each of these would have four or five hundred pages. God. Everybody must think it’s never going to end, including Rinpoche. That’s why it’s so rare. There’s very few people who willing to it and very few people who willing to listen.

Maybe we should just suggest it for Buddha House program. That’s the Buddha Buddha house. Buddha house nanyakuta. That’s so interesting. Eventually, numbers would keep dropping off and dropping off, and finally they would disappear altogether.

That’d be a few that wouldn’t stop. So these days, is the Tibetan government sponsor ceremonies in the same way as the Lhasa government? It does. Of course, it almost used to. It was all part of the one, but not anymore.

There’s one great lama, Longdol Lama. Which lama? Longdol. Yeah. And he gave the Kangyur Lung, the transmission.

And it took him one year. Then he used to sit there with a stick. And anyone who fell asleep, he would hit them with a stick. That’s affecting. Initially, there were many people, but at the end, there were only five.

Five left to listen? He would have been better leaving the sleepers alone. He then would have come back. The the that remained had realization of impermanence. Ah.

Is this true? Is this a story? Yeah. That’s what it said. It’s said to be true.

What hell was that a long time ago? Long time ago. Sixteen, seventeen hundreds. Is it time to stop? I don’t know what’s under lunch.

Twelve forty. Hope it’s coming. Maybe we should oh, we have to go to a doctor. We have to This is a continuation, and it’s Monday, the eighth of July nineteen ninety one. So I’ve just got a couple of questions related the way it’s working at the moment.

So you you request so you requested divination as to what to do with the money? Yeah. So we should say, well, what what was decided? What do with the money? Right.

Yeah. This is what you have here, but he was just saying, then what after having done the divination, what was the answer? Right. Right. So it’s that’s just a summary.

The the door doing it? And this is the the actual The the gap gap of it. The doper it. The doper it. And going back to here, this is just a question before when he had the money.

I know I keep going on and on about it, but if this just to get it really clear. I was quite wealthy at that time, and I invested the money with the trader from who originally bought me the money. And I’ve got here check. Was it family money? Family money?

This is a delicate one, but how how did his uncle get how was his family rich if his uncle did trading for Dage Gompa, or did he do trading trading half and half for the benefit of Dage Gompa and half and half for the benefit of his family? Can I ask him like a and Mhmm? And the the example like the the. So I mean he was in general a trader, and then he did, at the request of Darga Gompa, he would help them and for example they went, they had, in order to build houses they asked him, requested him to do some work for them in trading, so that was like in general he was a trader for himself, but he would specifically do whatever they requested of him in order to help them out also. If you just explain Rinpochede, it’s just a little bit hard for a westerner to understand sort of the difference, but he was a monk.

But then he kind of must He he was both a trader and a monk. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I I sort of understand. It’s just that it’s just It’s like my you know, my father was a lama sort of married minister, but he used to always do investments and shares and things like that.

I suppose a similar kind of thing like that even though his main work was was Rinpoche’s uncle’s main work monastic, or did he So, mainly, he was a monk, but he also had to provide practical necessities for himself and other people. So he combined his monasticism with practical trading business. So he did he did he largely support the family at Rinda then? The same family. So he supported them.

Mhmm. Good. So and I just one other question from that time. When Rinpoche got the money, he said, I was very rich. I kept five dosa back for my own expenses.

I had a good time buying tsampa and tea. So when he first got the money, is that correct? That he bought the he bought tsampa and tea or other? Tumble Tumble Tumble Tumble. Bought to So he he kept he spent five doses of blinds on and tea.

Good. That’s great. Now this this refers to the actual mo. This is after when the family wanted the money back. He’d received a lot of advice, and then he went to his teacher, Chumje Rinpoche, who had given him his novice and ordination vows, he asked for advice and explained the situation about the money.

And he requested his teacher to do a moe. Now, in order for Westerners to understand better, could Rinpoche explain what a mo is really? So the first one has to do a certain in order to be able to use a particular divination method, one has to do proper rituals and say a certain specific number of mantras. Generally, we require some sort of retreat with respect to the specific deity connected with with this particular divination method. Mhmm.

Then once has it once one is qualified through these methods. So it’d be fine to say there are many methods. Yeah. One has to yeah. Usually, he has to do a retreat on this particular deity, saying a certain number of mantras and performing the correct rituals.

Mhmm. And then then some then you have a certain purpose that you want that needs to be decided. Some something needs to be decided. And you hope you hold this in your mind, whatever it is. And and you say, are we making requests to the Lama’s yidams, the meditational deities, the Dakini’s, the Dharma protectors, say, and especially to the deity associated with the divination process.

There’s one deity who be associated with this divination, and saying I don’t know what to do, and that you know what to do, and which is better, this or this. And then you throw the dice and then according to the numbers that come up that you consort a book and the book will tell you what the meaning of these specific numbers are and that way your decision is made. Decision is made. Terupeshay, thank you very much. I I needed to put in some explanation because otherwise, Westerners wouldn’t have any, you know, real clue The the the call it.

Yes. So some Lamas, they have clairvoyance, and they don’t need to do divinations. That leads on to the next question. On one occasion, Rinpoche said that Chumje Rinpoche did a moe. And on another occasion, he he more or less said it in a slightly different wording, which was my teacher thought and thought, and he said, oh, don’t don’t send it back.

It is of no use to him. It is of no benefit for him. So on one occasion, Boucher said he did a moe, and on the other occasion, he said he thought and thought. I just wonder what version or how to express it best. And then he said after he did revelation once, and then next time he said he thought about it.

Oh, no. No. I have two different versions of this from talking with Rinpoche, and in the translation, one version came across he did a moe. Mhmm. And the other version came across he thought and he thought.

So so thinks that they’re both right. Because the Lamas should not expose the fact that they have clairvoyances. So therefore even if they have clairvoyance, they will go through the motions of throwing a divination. And then they will actually, won’t, they’ll just, rather using their clairvoyance, they’ll tell you what they think you should do. So it even though he threw a divination, he still probably had clairvoyance, and he thought about what what needed to be done.

So he thinks that both explanations can be are combined. Tim Rucher, thank you very much. That’s that’s really good. The time my family sent me a letter saying both your uncles have died in one month. Yeah.

There wasn’t an epidemic. They were both old men. And I’ve got here, check when did Rinpoche do this? Before or after hearing of his uncle’s death or the trader? Oh, there’s just some confusion about purchases to send back to Calm, whether Rinpoche purchases back to Calm.

See where I’m going from my mother’s phone. The trader that Rinpoche sent lent the money to, I think he sent some gifts back to come before his uncles died. But would it be right to say that Rinpoche didn’t send anything back, but after they died, he spent all the money for their, you know, sort of offerings for them. Was that correct? Or did Rinpoche also send things back to come for the family from the money when he decided he wasn’t going to go?

And So yeah, so the trader said that he should, if he wasn’t going to go back to Calm, then he should send back the money and that they would, if he went back to Calm, that they would criticize him a great deal for not having brought back the money. So Rinpoche bought lots of materials to send back Oh, right. Send back to Calm with the trader. I’ve got that down that I got. So didn’t the trader send stuff back as well at that same time?

Or Mhmm. You could Trader gave back quite a lot of money, didn’t he? Was that at the same time as Rinpoche sent a cloth? Money? The money that Rinpoche had received?

Yeah. The money that Rinpoche had loaned the trader. He felt obliged to return some of it. Is it it’s same time. It’s the Just So instead of he didn’t return instead of the money, he he gave he bought these trading goods.

He traded it? Yeah. Or Rupeshay did? Trader. Right.

Right. So Rupeshet didn’t actually have any money, so he couldn’t have bought it, could he? He remember you had five five dosa? And the the rest of it had the trader had the rest. So it was the trader who bought all the stuff, not Rinpoche.

The that’s right. Trader just requested all. It wasn’t so it wasn’t at his own idea. It was the trader’s idea. I just just needed to get that sorted fine.

Right? And this is so just one last question in this section. And that concerns this concerns when after Rinpoche’s uncles had died and he was distributing the money for their pujas. And he says — I didn’t give all the money to these monks individually from the three monasteries, Sera, Ganden, and Drepung. This is a mola.

They have government official who calculates how many monks are there and distributes donations evenly. I gave the money to this government official who could be a monk. I don’t know I Wazi. I’m just really clarifying the officials. So these these these the the person the people who the government representative or government workers, whatever you want to call them, they were both lay people and monks.

So there were several of them. Weren’t they? The. So they’re both lay people and monks. Was their role just at Mulan at the prayer festival?

Or was that all the time, like, for government? So, I mean, this was a special function just at. Right. During this festival. Some of them might have been government employees and some of them might not have been, but during this period they were doing this special work.

Okay. It’s just hard to just to remember shape. It’s it’s just hard from a different background to understand how different governments work and things run. But I’d heard that in the prayer festival time, it was different because it’s like the the monks often ran the city when I saw that video. So in in which case that they’d put might have been a a lay or it might have been a a monk.

I would. Yeah. Good. Now this this is referring year. I more initiation.

Think so. Anyway, he wasn’t at CERA, but there was that epidemic. I just wanted to ask some more questions on that that were normal. Fifty? Yeah.

Just sort of clarify, was that the time that Rinpochev was doing the the Yamāntaka retreat with Khen Nawang Dakpa and his teacher? So his teacher, and Rinpoche were doing a retreat. And Geshe Nawang Dakpa was the was help their helper. That’s right. Now I don’t seem to I’ve got that in there.

And Boucher received. You haven’t dug it. So I’ve got I’ve actually got to insert that somewhere on the. No. I’ve got was that retreat in relation to this initiation that we’ve got down here?

At Ganden gave Jig J. This one? Trijang Rinpoche. T r i j a n g. Okay.

Good. Rinpoche. Good. Have to try it. From Ganden.

Ganden. At Ganden. Ganden. Ganden. Ganden.

In his in his own room in his room. Oh, alright. Potala. In his room. In his room.

In Lhasa. His room in Lhasa. The teaching chamber — but his room in Lhasa. Lhasa’s a big city. Is he a room in a monastery?

Norbulingka. So, yeah, he had his own house in the Oh. Oh. He had a big house. He didn’t always live with his holiness at at the or So he wasn’t at this time, he wasn’t acting as a tutor.

Oh, I see. I see. This was in, like, nineteen fifty. Before before he perhaps he became tutor, was he? Yeah.

Yeah. He wasn’t the tutor at this time. Oh, right. Nineteen nineteen fifty, he wasn’t the tutor. Oh.

Yeah. So he wasn’t there. Is is if tutor’s to his holiness, do they hold office until they die, or do they do they change like an emperor? Because I I don’t know. I just had this impression that they were always tutors.

So first, one is a tutor, and then one becomes I mean I mean, at this time, he wasn’t the Yongzin. Yongzin means he wasn’t the Yongzin. What does Yongzin mean? Tutor junior tutor or something like Usually it’s translated tutor. Tenshap Tenshap is really the debating partner.

The debating partner. So first one becomes a debating partner and then one becomes a tutor. So he at this particular time, he wasn’t either. Wasn’t Either. He was He wasn’t either.

And debating partner, does that mean a debating partner holiness. Of his holiness. Yeah. Oh, do you know about all this stuff? No, I don’t.

So and then. Talking you get that? So if someone says, that means he’s been a debating partner to his holiness. Does it? That’s what it means.

That’s right. Could you just spell Tsaan for me? Tsaan. Tsaan. Tsaan.

Tsaan. A n. N. Sure. S h b.

S h a b. T s a n s h a b. A b. But you have to check you have to check the spelling. I’m just pronouncing.

So and they always would be a Geshe, wouldn’t they? Were they? I think so. Yeah. Yeah.

You have to be an expert Geshe. Yeah. So top Ladan Geshe. Mhmm. And then that so that was that was the first in the the scale of and and then above that one would be Yongzan, which is can you remember, Shao, saying just an explanation of that?

Because the work you do Yeah. Yongzan. Yongzan. Enough. It’s just that in English that the word tutor has very many different connotations.

In in academic terms, it’s usually the bottom of the pecking hierarchy if you’re a tutor. Don’t know. Have come up with another term. No. No.

I it’s it’s just really to understand it. I think to understand it, then I can write about it. Okay. So that’s pretty good. So that was a completely different time, and that was I’ve got he was in Shunipa class.

Rinpoche was in Shunipa that time? The the and Yeah. Yeah. The dates don’t quite work out exactly because that Rumshest said that year was nineteen forty eight when he was in Shunipa, and I’ve got that that this Yamāntaka nineteen forty nine, but maybe the year changed. I don’t think I think you have to be a little bit flexible because he he was going by the Tibetan year.

Yeah. Okay. So then would that have been in around about nineteen fifty eight no. Nineteen fifty when this this he did the retreat. What class would Rinpoche have been in retreat?

Sukho Sarpa. Shuko That was the initiation. So when he when he he took the initiation, was in Shunipa. And when he did the retreat, was in Sukho Sarpa. Right.

Right. Oh, that’s alright. That that’s probably but don’t know. Change this year to forty nine instead of fifty. I think forty nine.

So that and and it wasn’t while Rinpocheh was on that retreat that they had that epidemic when all the monks got sick and That’s better. That’s the right year if he’s doing that. Tell him the years work out my Yep. So the the the epidemic broke out, and then they went away to do this retreat. Oh, bit after it broke out?

Mhmm. Is that part of the reason for going or nothing to do? So during this epidemic, they didn’t have assemblies. They just it was more or taking advantage of the fact that there was nothing going on at the the monastery due to the epidemic that they took this opportunity to do retreat. So so there was so much sickness that they canceled their regular program.

The the the. Everybody was sick. Every day, two or three monks would die. Was it some sort of fever, was Some fever. A fever.

They got very, very hot and A hard to so it’s obviously not a flu. It must be some sort of a cholera or I don’t know. It’d be hard to say. No. Yeah.

It was it was it was infectious. Oh. It was it was being transferred from one person to another. Wasn’t like color was it like cholera or one of those? Just if we could get a Western name for it.

It’s better because I know. I don’t That’s that’s good. Anyway, how do you how would I write that? Let me just look up the word color and see if it might be the same thing. It’s the the the means progressive illness.

That’s all that that’s what that means. Yeah. So as well as getting very hot, they’d be very weak and that they’d be burning, would they, with a very high temperature? Not cholera. It’s not cholera.

So cute shout the cute cute threw up. And Shannon’s guy here. So it’s a That’s cholera. That’s what they call it. I don’t know.

Anyway So it wasn’t that anyway? It wasn’t anything to The the keep them in chat. You don’t worry. You mind. They didn’t they didn’t have diarrhea and vomiting.

It was a fever, fever disease. Do they sweat, lose a lot? Can they Lu mobile? Lu Their eyes would turn yellow, and their hair would fall out. Hair would fall out?

Mhmm. Their eyes would turn yellow. It sounds like make a. And the hair would come from it, or did most people recover? Nana.

Napa. I wish wish you. Most most became better, but some down. Most most recovered. Was there anything that could be done for it or they just have to So when Lama was able was giving one wrathful deity, a female deity by the name of Remati, and he would give that initiation.

It seemed to be beneficial for those who took that initiation. Tibetan medicine wasn’t much benefit. So it was obviously really bad. It brought meant none of the teachers could teach and none of the students could Their capacity — their capacity — pity, almighty. Does Rinpoche ever remember any other occasion when they had to stop studies for an illness like No.

This was the worst. No. There was no no occasion like this other than that. Had there been sicknesses like this in Kham? Mhmm.

Kham occasion went slightly similar situations, but not not as bad as this. So this was really very bad. The. No. I think Rinpoche said that the that first of all, the Gundan monks were sick, and then somehow that trade Gundan.

No? I’ve got here. Both Sarah and Gundan had this sickness. Gundan monks had it first and gave it to the Sarah monks. I’ve got check.

And that’s it. No? Then I’ve got people in Lhasa were not affected. So the yeah. It didn’t affect the people in Lhasa.

So that was that is correct. That’s very strange, isn’t it? Maybe. I mean, it was outside of town, was it? Yes.

It was. That’s true. Yeah. Yeah. So would it have been perhaps a disease that came back from India or from China that someone who’d been trading could have brought this?

Or don’t don’t you think that? I guess I know. Oh, yeah. So is I don’t put the bit in about Ganden monks. Ganden Ganden Yeah.

So it was really because of that epidemic that Rinpoche went with his teacher to Tashi Chuling for that retreat. What does mean? Yeah. So, I mean, the one one teacher by the name, Pabongka Rinpoche, he he lived on top of a small mountain called Tashi Chuling. And then their their place of retreat was near there, very close to them.

So Pabongka, the name of the place came from the Rinpoche? Then the well, I mean, Pabongka Rinpoche lived on the on the mountain, and the mountain was called Tashi Chuling. Oh. That place was who lived? Tashi Chuling.

The place where he lived was called Tashi Chuling. He had a big big house in the in on at and where that place, this Pabongka Rinpoche, where he stayed was called Tashi Chuli. And this where they did This was it when he saw the time. Oh, it was a different This was during some one period when they Not they didn’t see it during their retreat. That was at a different time.

Was that before was it for earlier than this The gula jama. Previously, he had So it was previously during during a nondebate period. They he and and one other monk were staying at near Tashi Chuling in a cave. So it was the same area? Mhmm.

So that’s why The Satcha Chikpare. Satcha Chikpare. Chikpare. Chikpare. Chikpare.

Did the retreat, he stayed in the Tashi Chuling temple. Oh, thank you. Right. So so I really don’t have much information on this retreat at all. When during this nondebate period, when they when they went to this Tashi Choling area, they stayed in a cave.

What class was he in then? Super. So it’s one year previously. No. Year previous.

Good. Good. Shumnipa. So that was the cave. So if you’re interested more any more details about the retreat, how long it lasted or No.

One and a half months. One and And so they really use the opportunity caused by the epidemic to have that, do they? Is that what he just said, I think? That was was a good opportunity to do retreat. Yeah.

That was good. So do you remember Shake that Tashi Chuling sort of many times or just those on those Do occasions? Tashi Chuling Just roughly how many mud you’ve gone every year? Not every year. Okay.

You might have to ask about that later. For so that that was that was a Yamāntaka. That was a Yamāntaka retreat, and it wasn’t in a cave. It was in the Ganpa. Is that right?

Yeah. That’s right. It was Yamāntaka? Yes. Six weeks, would you say?

Yes. It’s called Tashi Chulingampa or Pabongka Gampa? That’s where Pabongka Gampa? No. It’s not called?

That’s no. That it’s not called it’s called Tashi Chulingampa. But Pabongka Rinpoche. Pabongka Pabongka Pabongka Pabongka So previous the previous Rinpoche had done meditation on this mountain. Mhmm.

And then eventually, they built a monastery called Tashi Chuling there where so that’s where Pabongka Rinpoche resided. So so if Geshe Nawang Dakpa was I’ve got was the attendant for for Gumey Ergen Serkong and Rinpoche. So he had to prepare tea and food. I just got here. Could we get more details on the role of an attendant?
